Did you know the city of Denver recommends throwing ALL wrapping paper in the trash? They don't recycle any of it. There are some ways in CO to recycle, but none of them will take metallic, glitter or tape-covered paper, bows, ribbons or tissue paper: https://www.9news.com/article/life/holidays/holiday-guide/how-to-recycle-wrapping-paper-in-colorado/73-922434ca-d1ef-4b1c-95f4-f6a0ec4eef2a
If all of that lovely shiny wrapping paper is going to the landfill, why do we use it? Because it's PRETTY!! But there is a way to have shiny, glittery, metallic wrapping without the guilt and environmental impact. Fabric gift wrap will last for years and years, and folds up nice and compact for storage as well.
FYI: many of my fabrics were purchased from individual de-stashing sites and estate sales, not retail stores, and all of my scraps and selvedge were used or recycled with Ridwell!
